Hi there friends. My blog is now ad free. I didn’t have to start all over and I registered a domain thunderrose.info. I really thought I was gonna have to start over but yea, no, I didn’t. I was just about to and my friends at wordpress wrote and helped me out. So I can keep on with this one. I am so grateful because I have put a lot into this one and starting over even though that can be cool, right now I would rather keep on trucking with this one. Plus I didn’t really need another blog.I have blogged myself and others here for many years now. Just feeling very Grateful right now!
It’s Monday and it’s a beautiful day in Arizona. Our fall weather is here especially at night. Did you all catch the harvest moon this weekend! It was so fantastic. It came up so big , bright and beautiful.
This week I made a cool turtle. It is a work in progress turtle. The turtle is all finished but I haven’t made the bag yet.

I am pretty sure I have decided what kind of leather bag I want to put it on. It will have lots of fringe. I love fringe! When it’s all done I will do a blog post to show you.
So that’s it for now…. Fall is only a couple days away. Happy fall to all!
Be sure to stop in to our Etsy shop and say hi. There is a SALE going on right now.
Do you love the southwest? That is where we live. We live near Sedona, AZ. and our art has been influenced by all of nature and experiences we are having here. I started beading long before moving here but the Southwest really opened me up to a whole new world.
John and I have been involved in many artist community events and Native American tribal ceremonies that have been so very interesting . Many stories have been told around the fire and our kitchen table with people from all over the world.
The beautiful red rocks and magic of this area is known far and wide. People travel from all over the world to enjoy the beauty and magic of Mother Earth here. When we did art shows some years ago we met people from all walks of life and from all over the world.
This is one of my many bead work rosettes I have made. This beaded rosette is done in beautiful southwest colors.
The thunderbird is considered a supernatural being of power and strength. It is especially important, and frequently depicted, in the art, songs and oral histories of many tribes.

Good morning friends! It’s Monday again . Today I would like to show you a very special clutch I made last week. It was a process like all of our bags. The bead work on this one was fun and I love the way the orange sunflower turned out. The turquoise background really makes the beaded flower stand out. I love beading! Anyway here is the clutch…..
This white leather clutch with a beaded sunflower and long fringe front and back measures 4 inches tall , 7 inches wide and 1.5 inches deep. The leather is soft and strong . This leather clutch purse is decorated with turquoise blue glass crow beads and the closure is a leather tie that wraps around the clutch. This is a one pocket bag and fits a phone and a few other things it just depends on what your needs are.
I have been working on this project and decided to take pictures along the way. We got a new camera and it is fun and very helpful. I even shot my first video this week. That was all about my garden I will do a blog about that later and stay focused this morning on the beaded bag project I did.
I must say I love my shop my big desk , my sewing machine that John just fixed up for me. We have one in the big shop and now I have one in my little bead shop. I do bead work and small projects in here and big , large leather projects in the big shop. Just for fun take a look. So here you are seeing my machine that is used for very small medicine bags. Most of our bags are stitched by hand as you will see in the pictures below. Next to the singer sewing machine is my bead desk. I have my special medicine bear and hummingbird Kachina that my friend John carved for me while he was staying with us. He carved the bear out of a rock and the Kachina out of wood. He is Hopi Tewa and a great friend and awesome artist. Big thank you to John!
The bead work you see is the one I made for this custom leather crossbody bag. First, lets take a look at a couple work in progress pictures.
It’s Thursday afternoon this hot summer day in Arizona and I just finished this beautiful chocolate brown leather bag / fringed boho bag with a beaded dragonfly. The dragonfly is beaded in silk purple , forest green, silk green and silver lined gold seed beads. The background is purple leather. This boho / gypsy style handbag has long fringe that is decorated with purple glass crow beads. The bag measures 6 inches tall and 5 1/2 inches wide and has a 48 inch 4 point braided strap that is perfect for wearing crossbody. Of course if you would like you strap shorter or longer please just contact us and let us know we are happy to help you out.
The dragonfly totem makes this leather bag magical. It would make a great phone bag , medicine bag or perfect for going out and only carrying a few things.
As you can see from the pictures I added some gold glass beads around the dragonfly to express how magical dragonflies are. It gives it a little extra light.
It’s a beautiful afternoon in sunny Arizona. There has been a lot going on here at our home. The gardens are in. We have some new bags to show you but today I would like to show you this one. I love this bohemian, tribal , handmade handbag. This bag has lots of long fringe and is made in soft palomino leather. I love the way the beaded bear paw sits in the corner of the bag. I beaded the bear paw in black and brown glass seed beads.

This year John and I put a fence in the front of our home. We decided to have a container garden along the fence but leave it open so Rosie can run and play. A zen garden. We did plant in our raised beds in the back and I will show those in another blog post.
We are all really enjoying this new space we created. It will be fun to watch it grow and change over the years.

Awe Monday morning! Hope everyone had an amazing Easter weekend. Mine was just kind of normal. I relaxed into what I needed to do and enjoyed what I was doing. When I woke up this morning I went to my email and found that On Fire for Handmade is having a great finds hunt in Red. Oh my goodness what an amazing collection of red I found. Just stunning handmade items of all kinds you can check it out here.
John and I have been working on a few Red Handbags lately so I was really happy to see the Great Finds Hunt in Red.
I would love to show you all the beautiful handmade items from my team mates so here is a treasury for you to take a look at.
There are so many beautiful items here to choose from. Handmade jewelry in red , dream catchers, crocheted items, handmade cards, clay art, home decor, homemade candy and so much more.
Today in Arizona at sunrise it is so very cold outside and the fire in the wood stove is burning warm and strong.
It has been really fun around here lately , getting in some new colors of leather to play with and some new seed beads too! The goal is to work on some new projects. But in the meantime as usual we are creating one of a kind special orders.
Everyday something new is being created in my home. Beadwork , leatherwork, food , and on and on. Life is one big creative process making life interesting. Even when blogging you are creating something that you hope someone somewhere will find interesting. There are so many different peoples and interesting subjects all you can do is follow your heart and post what your interests in life are. Even in the garden there is a creative process that goes on. You never really know how it will all go in a year but the magic of nature is of course magical and honestly it is just part of the journey. In everything we do you can learn, in my opinion. Life is one big teaching like you are in school and you can choose to learn from your day or not. I have heard it called earth school. I can totally relate to that. In all the years I have lived on our beautiful Mother Earth I have done my best to learn from what life gave me that day. It truly is not easy but it makes sense and it helps you understand yourself and who you are. Especially if you can quiet yourself enough to feel what is happening right in the moment. Even that is not that easy to pull off. In the society we are living in everything is speeded up, in a hurry and impatience is on the rise. So I practice being patient although in all honesty some days are easier than others. There are those who really do push you to your limit to say the least. You see when I sat down to blog I had no idea what I was going to write about. This is where it all went so far. Starting with a couple of my bead projects.
Our beautiful granddaughter visited us this summer! Oh what a treat for us! Here we are in the garden with one of our sunflowers.
So that’s it for today! In our daily lives there is so very much to be grateful for. Things that bring us joy, laughter and grace. One thing I have learned is do your best to roll with it and let the river move freely with out resistance. One you start to resist stress accumulates. Do the best to steer your boat and stay on track but roll with it.
