These medicine bags are all made in soft durable leather and measure approximately 4 inches tall x 3 inches wide and have a braided neck strap measuring 28 inches. Each one has an antler tip closure.
Good morning! We have finally come around to really nice cooler weather here in Cornville, Arizona. It was a very dry hot summer so this is a real relief. I decided to show a beaded belt bag that we made a week or so ago. It is made in soft saddle tan leather and along with the belt loop we made a 4 point braided strap so our customers can wear it as a shoulder bag as well as a belt bag. This leather hip bag has a beaded eagle. I started beading the beaded eagle first. Here is a work in progress picture. I had just finished the rosette.

This beaded eagle has the eagle in the center and the 4 direction colors around the outside.
The next thing is making the belt bag and sewing the rosette down . Once the rosette is sewn down it’s time to lace around the beadwork.

This was a fun bag to make. I love all animals wolves, dogs and all others. This fringed leather handbag is done in soft black leather and has lots of fringe. Measurements are 11 inches tall x 10 inches wide x 2.75 inches deep. It is all hand stitched and features an extra pocket inside and one on the back of the bag. It’s been a busy week of beading. Beading is an absolute awesome way to center your mind and focus your attention. When beading all I can do is the one thing, well of course I usually put on some background music so I do listen to music. It’s a blessing to be able to do this art. The journey started for me a little more than 30 years ago.
This is the beadwork work in progress I showed you last week. It started with a Thunderbird. I put the beaded Thunderbird on a small leather pouch.
This amulet bag would be perfect for a special stone, crystal , medicine or keepsake. There are as many uses for these kinds of bags.

My work in progress this week is a beaded rainbow turtle. I have finished the turtle and am working on the bag. The bag is also going to have linear beadwork down the sides. Coming soon! 🙂 Here is a picture of the turtle.
It’s a beautiful Monday morning with lots of rainy weather here in Arizona. I have a new beaded hummingbird bag to show you today. Hummingbirds are so beautiful and over the years I have beaded many. I do jazz them up with beautiful colors of the rainbow. On some of our custom orders our customers give me their favorite colors to work with and then I put them into the hummingbird. This week I created this one . My friend loved turquoise green , and some softer pastel colors. I decided in order to bring out these lighter colors a darker shade of turquoise would help bring it all together. This beaded hummingbird went on a pipe bag. She had just made a sacred prayer pipe and needed a special place to keep it. I feel honored that our art can be a functional part of someone’s life. To bring them joy for many years to come.
Many people have the hummingbird as a totem. What a beautiful totem ! Every year as I sit in my garden I watch the hummingbirds dance around me I feel joy. They love to play. Sometimes when I am watering they come right up to the water coming out of the hose and just sit in mid air and look at me. It makes me feel so happy having them so close. The simple pleasures in life make the best moments.
I am so Grateful for their presence every year. I plan to plant a bunch of flowers for them this year. Hummingbirds are dear to me.

This pipe bag is made in soft palomino leather and has double cut fringe off the bottom of the bag. The braided drawstring closure keeps the pipe very secure inside the bag. This bag is handmade and handstitched.
