It’s Friday again and we are almost a week into the new year . Happy New year to all ! 2017 treated us well , sometimes it was a wild ride but that is life. Comes and goes. We just ride the waves.
John and I decided to simplify our life , which is pretty simple anyway but sometimes online life and wearing so many different hats can really be a hoot of an experience.
I probably told you about starting up a new website last year. Well because of not being able to find ourselves in search we had to make the decision to move. Honestly if you can’t find yourself in search , well you are not gonna get found. Even though starting over is sometimes hard, it is also necessary. So that is what we did. 🙂
We love our Etsy shop. It’s our baby and does well for us. We also have a need to not have all our eggs in one basket due to so many reasons. We learned this lesson a long time ago in business. We also enjoy having a site that we are in control of, so when the winds of change happen , and believe me they do, we have something to fall back on.
I have been working on some new beadwork designs that I hope to get done sometime in the next few months. I am looking real forward to creating them. Right now they are being cultivated and grown in my heart and mind lol 🙂 .
We for the first time have introduced fuschia ( pink) leather. Wow , it is really pretty. Take a look
One of our favs this year has been wolf paw medicine bags.
I created this one in black leather with a blue wolf paw for one of my customers. This is a work in progress picture. I love doing work in progress pics.
This blue leather clutch is a simple soft leather clutch. The navy blue leather is soft and durable for your everyday needs. What I love about this clutch is its small yet functional in a multi purpose way. It has an extra pocket inside so you can keep all your cards, money and a phone . You are organized all in one place. This small leather clutch is ready to ship and for sale in our Etsy shop (Thunder Rose).
This blue clutch is all handmade and hand stitched.
This is a picture of the inside of this beautiful clutch. As you can see there is an extra pocket inside.
It’s a beautiful Monday morning with lots of rainy weather here in Arizona. I have a new beaded hummingbird bag to show you today. Hummingbirds are so beautiful and over the years I have beaded many. I do jazz them up with beautiful colors of the rainbow. On some of our custom orders our customers give me their favorite colors to work with and then I put them into the hummingbird. This week I created this one . My friend loved turquoise green , and some softer pastel colors. I decided in order to bring out these lighter colors a darker shade of turquoise would help bring it all together. This beaded hummingbird went on a pipe bag. She had just made a sacred prayer pipe and needed a special place to keep it. I feel honored that our art can be a functional part of someone’s life. To bring them joy for many years to come.
Many people have the hummingbird as a totem. What a beautiful totem ! Every year as I sit in my garden I watch the hummingbirds dance around me I feel joy. They love to play. Sometimes when I am watering they come right up to the water coming out of the hose and just sit in mid air and look at me. It makes me feel so happy having them so close. The simple pleasures in life make the best moments.
I am so Grateful for their presence every year. I plan to plant a bunch of flowers for them this year. Hummingbirds are dear to me.
Here is the pipe bag with a beaded hummingbird we created this week at
This pipe bag is made in soft palomino leather and has double cut fringe off the bottom of the bag. The braided drawstring closure keeps the pipe very secure inside the bag. This bag is handmade and handstitched.
Our bags are custom designed just for you. This one measures 20 inches long ( not including the fringe) and 8 inches wide.
We have created many things this week. One of my favorites is the brown medicine bag with the beaded sunflower, double cut fringe off the bottom of the bag and a 36 inch neck strap. What is a medicine bag? That is something I used to be asked when I did art shows. We have sold these bags to many people from all over the world. They would tell us I need this for my favorite stone, crystal, carved fetish, to keep my wedding rings in while traveling or even the tooth fairy. Yes , the tooth fairy. I thought what a cute idea. Making losing a tooth an even more special event.
I have used mine to keep a special feather, rock , medicine like sage, cedar or whatever in. It all depends on what your needs are. You can make a special prayer and wear it or carry it with you reminding you of what your intent is. So medicine bags or amulet bags are totally multi purpose.
John and I have a lot of different sizes and kinds of medicine bags. Some are beaded some are plain, we make custom ones to fit the needs of our customer friends. Sometimes we put a turtle, bear claw or wolf totem on. I also do four direction beadwork with your colors where you like them.
Today in Arizona at sunrise it is so very cold outside and the fire in the wood stove is burning warm and strong.
It has been really fun around here lately , getting in some new colors of leather to play with and some new seed beads too! The goal is to work on some new projects. But in the meantime as usual we are creating one of a kind special orders.
