We are so honored to have been blogged by Deanna and Kent at Glowing Heart Studios. Both Deanna and Kent are awesome artists and wonderful friends! We are so grateful that are paths crossed.
Good morning! It’s the middle of the week and so much is going on I am just gonna write. A lot of people like to plan out what they are gonna say or do on a blog but myself I just go with what comes in the moment. Usually when I make a plan it changes right in the middle of it all anyway. Just like this post I started yesterday and I made it this far and a friend called and I changed direction. So here I am again today one day past the middle of the week. What got me thinking about planning and blogging is Etsy is teaching about the best way to blog , how to’s . I’ll just weigh in and say be yourself. You and your life no matter what that looks like is where you are and that is good enough. Not everyone has all the perfect words , perfect pictures , perfect studios and whatnot.
Like John and I , we are minimalists. We live within our means and we really don’t try to be anything but what we are. Now in our society that may be seen as not ambitious or whatever but I have watched the illusions that people have put out their about themselves to the point where they are even fooled about who they are. So be yourself .
I mean I have been in business for almost 30 years now. I have a successful business that was started before the internet. I had no idea what a blog was. After getting online one of the things Etsy was saying back then was get a blog. So I did. I had no idea or clue.
I still learn something new all the time but all in all ” be yourself.”
My first camera came from my beautiful daughter Shannon. She had more than one. We used to take all our pictures with a vintage camera. The digital ones are pretty cool! We have now upgraded and bought a new one.
There is all the new and improved programs to different sites but I have to say
” not always so” improved for who?
So it is fall now and the hummingbirds have migrated south and the fall air is magical as always. I will be happy to see them again in the spring.
This week I have been busy with a few projects.
I have some new beads in the house that I am stoked about.
I have these beautiful mint green beads
When I first looked at these beads I was in love. A very soft healing color of green that would look good in some of my leather and bead projects. As a matter of fact the other morning when I woke up I had an inspiration waiting for me right up front in my mind. I am looking forward to playing with these. I bought plenty so I put some in our bead store to share with you.
Here is a link to these beads
Also I was able to get some pink beads . They are real pretty too! They are a little darker than my last ones but I really love them.
These pink beads are so soft and pretty. They are size 11 just like most the beads I work with. I really like that size. Just works good for me.
You can find these in my bead and leather store .
Our bead and leather shop THUNDER ROSE LEATHER is a small Etsy shop. We always have boxes of lace and scrap leather in our shop at home. We have way more than we have time to get in the store sometimes because we are busy making bags and purses. So if you have needs just contact us in our Etsy shop and we will be happy to help you.
Here are few of our laces we have for sale in our bead and leather shop
Thanks for stopping by and taking a look!
Much love and light!
When I woke up this morning the first thing I noticed was a bank of clouds. The sun was just barely showing. I decided to sit at my computer and make a treasury and as I was sitting there the sky was lighting up from my window. I got up and looked out and this is what I saw.
I didn’t crop it our change it just wanted to show the magic of this morning.
Here is the treasury I created for 16 of my Etsy friends!
This treasury is from Artisans of Beauty and Rainbow Artists Teams! It features Kent Olinger from Images by Kent.Have a beautiful Thursday!

Now the sun is shining real bright and I am feeling so grateful that I got up and caught this all. What a beautiful day it is going to be.
The weather is very warm this morning and the weekend is around the corner.
From my desk!
A blog post from Deadhead Art Alliance (Jen) featuring a really good friend of mine Janice and me. Thanks Jen! Its a really great blog post! 🙂
My name is Janice; I’m somewhat of an “eclectic” bead artist and an unabashed self-proclaimed bead addict. My husband and partner of 20 years, Dan and I, live in “The Golden Heart City,” of Fairbanks, Alaska. We love to spend our summers camping and fishing, while traveling throughout “The Land of the Midnight Sun!”
On the other end of the seasonal spectrum, we spend the rest of the year cozied up to the woodstove during the long, dark, frigid cold winter season. Yes, friends – two seasons is what we’re really dealing with here in the Interior of Alaska! With that said, once summer abandons us and Old Man Winter arrives, I find myself hunkering in for the long haul and focusing on doing what I enjoy the most – playing with my beads!
My greatest passion at this point of my life is designing and creating “distinctively you” handmade…

Today is the first day of winter. So I am welcoming in this beautiful time of year. A time of reflection and hibernation. A chance to search my spirit and listen to the guidance of my friends from the spirit world. As I walk along my path on this life’s journey I have been through so much and have chosen to learn from what has been along my path. Not easy but necessary for growing and changing. It has been quite a journey this time round to say the least.
One of the most important things is to find self love. To accept ourselves and love ourselves and be gentle with ourselves through all the things that we live with and grow with. To cut ourselves some slack when we make a mistake and give ourselves the love that we would give to one of our best of friends.
When we do this we have a more open, compassionate heart with others. We understand that everyone makes mistakes and finds themselves in difficult times.
Instead of always trying to hold up this illusion that society puts on us to give a false sense of perfection we are being ourselves learning as we go and loving others.
The further along you get, the closer you are to getting there.
Be your own person
Know your own self
Live in the present moment
Drop the struggle
May you be blessed with peace and comfort
Much Love and Light
Everyday something new is being created in my home. Beadwork , leatherwork, food , and on and on. Life is one big creative process making life interesting. Even when blogging you are creating something that you hope someone somewhere will find interesting. There are so many different peoples and interesting subjects all you can do is follow your heart and post what your interests in life are. Even in the garden there is a creative process that goes on. You never really know how it will all go in a year but the magic of nature is of course magical and honestly it is just part of the journey. In everything we do you can learn, in my opinion. Life is one big teaching like you are in school and you can choose to learn from your day or not. I have heard it called earth school. I can totally relate to that. In all the years I have lived on our beautiful Mother Earth I have done my best to learn from what life gave me that day. It truly is not easy but it makes sense and it helps you understand yourself and who you are. Especially if you can quiet yourself enough to feel what is happening right in the moment. Even that is not that easy to pull off. In the society we are living in everything is speeded up, in a hurry and impatience is on the rise. So I practice being patient although in all honesty some days are easier than others. There are those who really do push you to your limit to say the least. You see when I sat down to blog I had no idea what I was going to write about. This is where it all went so far. Starting with a couple of my bead projects.
Our beautiful granddaughter visited us this summer! Oh what a treat for us! Here we are in the garden with one of our sunflowers.
So that’s it for today! In our daily lives there is so very much to be grateful for. Things that bring us joy, laughter and grace. One thing I have learned is do your best to roll with it and let the river move freely with out resistance. One you start to resist stress accumulates. Do the best to steer your boat and stay on track but roll with it.
